How to Make a Fabric Heart Garland Using a LouLou Bundle.

If you’re looking for a sweet, cozy project that’s quick, forgiving, and totally charming, this fabric heart garland is it. It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, a nursery, a party backdrop, or just adding a little handmade love to your space. Best of all, it’s a great way to show off a LouLou fabric bundle.

Supplies You’ll Need

  • A LouLou fabric bundle
  • Cotton batting
  • Washable fabric pen
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter or heart pattern
  • Sewing machine
  • Pinking scissors
  • Ribbon, thread, twine, or rope for hanging

Step 1: Cut Your Fabric Squares

Start by cutting fabric squares slightly oversized for the heart size you want. Bigger squares = chunkier, cozier hearts. You’ll need two fabric squares per heart.

Step 2: Draw Your Heart

On the right side of one fabric square, trace a heart using a cookie cutter or paper pattern. A washable fabric pen is perfect here so nothing permanent shows later.

Step 3: Layer It Up

Create a little heart sandwich:

  • Place the two fabric squares wrong sides together
  • Add two layers of cotton batting in between

This gives your hearts a soft, puffy, quilted feel.

Step 4: Sew the Heart

Sew directly on the line you traced, stitching all the way around the heart. Don’t stress about perfection—slightly imperfect stitching adds charm.

Step 5: Trim with Pinking Scissors ( or scalloped scissors)

Using pinking scissors, carefully cut around the heart, about ½ inch away from your stitching. The zigzag edge prevents fraying and gives the hearts a fun, finished look.

Step 6: Make It a Garland

Once all your hearts are finished, string them together using ribbon, thread, twine, or rope—whatever fits your style. Space them evenly or cluster them for a fuller look.

Style Ideas

  • Mix and match prints from your LouLou bundle for a playful look
  • Use neutral twine for farmhouse vibes
  • Try velvet ribbon for something extra luxe
  • Hang across a mantel, shelf, window, or headboard

This is one of those projects that looks high-end but is incredibly approachable—even for beginners. Cozy, handmade, and full of heart.
